Pastor Reza Safa is a leading Christian thinker on Iranian-American Relations and is a leading social voice in Iran. Every day, hundreds of thousands of Iranians watch Reza Safa on TV in Iran through TBN Nejat TV, a Christian satellite TV channel that beams over Iran and Afghanistan. Reza Safa was born into a Shi’ite Muslim family in Iran. He was a devout and practicing Shi’ite Muslim, observing the laws and regulations of Islam. He was converted to Christianity in 1980. In March 2003, after several years of prayer for the vision that God had shown Safa, Nejat TV began airing Christian television programming into the Middle East. (Nejat means “salvation” in the Farsi language.) Regular broadcasts began to air four hours a week on a Persian TV network based in California. A partnership with Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) was formed in 2006 and TBN Nejat TV, a full-time satellite network in the Farsi language was launched. The response has been overwhelming. According to some research, three to five million Iranian Muslims have come to Christ as a result of TBN Nejat TV. Over 90 underground churches have been established through TBN Nejat TV in Iran. Unfortunately, all these underground groups have been lost to persecution by the Iranian government. God’s Word is spreading like a wildfire all over Iran. And today, Iran has the fastest rate of conversion to Evangelical Christianity at the rate of 19.6%. Pastor Safa believes this trend will continue and Iran will be the first Islamic nation to convert to Christianity. Today, Pastor Reza Safa continues his global ministry from Newport Beach, California where he focuses on discipling the church around the world by means of weekly television broadcasts, livestream internet broadcasts, and publishing books.
